Brief: This class project was for the book of the year 2024 at MacEwan University where I designed a book cover for the novel "Bad Cree" by Jessica Johns.
Bad Cree is a novel that follows Mackenzie as she navigates through reality and her dreams, which take a dark turn.These designs resemble Mackenzie’s journey throughout the book. The white trees on the front cover evoke the look of a cage or jail bars, giving the impression that the crow is confined, just as Mackenzie was in her dreams. The black figure in the back cover resembles a crow’s wing, and the white space resembles trees at a low angle. The chapter header corresponds to being free from entrapment and foreshadows Mackenzie’s freedom from her dreams.
